We make one of Indiana’s largest varieties of craft beer, brewed in-house, and we’re always working on something new. Our Bloomington Brewery crafts over 30 beers annually, from stouts to seasonals to strong ales. You can’t go wrong.

Ross Miller – Head Brewer, The Tap 

Hailing from Bloomfield, IN, Ross Miller’s journey into the brewing industry began while studying Informatics and Computer Science at IUPUI (2011-2016). His passion for brewing ignited during his time at Sun King Brewing, where he started in the tasting room and worked his way up to a cellarman role after first trying out as a keg washer. 

After a brief departure from brewing to pursue culinary arts at Ivy Tech and gaining experience at local restaurants like Cardinal Spirits and Function Brewing, Ross returned to the brewery world in 2020. Starting as a beer delivery driver, keg washer, and line cleaner at The Tap, he quickly advanced to the brew deck, producing standout batches like Social and Bionic Dragon. 

For the past four years, Ross has worked under The Tap’s former head brewer of 10 years, Jarrod May, learning the craft and fine-tuning his brewing skills. Ross loves the hands-on nature of brewing, the way it brings people together, and the blend of culinary, scientific, and mechanical elements that result in exceptional beers. His favorite beers to brew and drink include Midnight Stout/Fuel and The Morrigan. Outside the brewery, Ross enjoys hiking, gardening, and playing board games with friends and family.

Jarrod May – Former Head Brewer, The Tap (2014-2024)

Jarrod May, originally from south central Pennsylvania, began his culinary journey at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. Over the years, he gained extensive experience working in restaurants across Pennsylvania, New York, Florida, Maryland, and New Mexico. After returning to school at Eastern Michigan to study human nutrition and dietetics, Jarrod discovered his passion for homebrewing, quickly earning several medals for his creations. Jarrod’s time at The Tap was highlighted by his efforts to brew great beer, which garnered himself and The Tap many awards and recognition over the years. Jarrod also mentored and developed several local and regional brewers during his time at The Tap, always fostering a teaching environment in our brewery.  

Nathan Finney – Founder of The Tap and Tap Brewery 

Our late founder and creator of The Tap opened the brewery just a couple of years after opening in Bloomington. Nathan developed a strong passion for craft beer because of other local breweries like Bloomington Brewing Company, Sun King and Upland and from a period where he lived in Florida enjoying Cigar City, Tampa Bay Brewing Company, and hanging out with friends trying all kinds of beer at The Brass Tap. His love of beer and his belief that he could create an atmosphere of friendship and gathering around craft beer lead him back to Indiana.  

Nathan was just as passionate about people and hospitality as he was craft beer. His commitment to taking care of his team, his guests, and his friends were the reason why The Tap and Tap Brewery have had so much success. Nathan’s family and the leadership team at Finney Hospitality continue to be fully committed to great beer, great food, and great friends!
