The Tap was established in 2012 when Nathan Finney, a former financial advisor, decided to pursue his dream of owning a Craft Beer bar.
The business later expanded into a full-service restaurant in Bloomington, Indiana. In 2014, The Tap also started a brewery, with Jarrod May joining as the Head Brewer after thorough research. Under May’s leadership, The Tap Brewery has received top honors at the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup. In 2015, a second location was opened in downtown Indianapolis, in the Mass Ave Cultural District.
In 2021, Finney decided to open The Tap’s third location near Purdue University’s campus. In late 2023, The Tap secured a sought-after spot in the Indianapolis International Airport, which operates in partnership with OHM.
The Tap’s Mission
At The Tap, our specialty is excellent beer. Each of our locations offers Indiana’s finest beer selection, featuring 50+ hand-picked brews on tap that rotate daily including a large selection of our own. We also brew over 30 unique beers over the course of a year all brewed at our Bloomington-based brewery. Our draft beers are available for purchase as growlers to take home.
In addition to our tap beers, we offer over 100+ bottled beers, showcasing a wide variety of craft and import styles from breweries around the world. For non-beer drinkers, we have wine and a full bar* and cocktail menu.
To complement your chosen beverage, The Tap provides a pub-style food menu. Some guest favorites include Tap Fries with four house-made dipping sauces, a Beer Cheese burger, artisan-style house-made pizzas, Chick-a-Chick-a Boom Boom Wrap, and Firecracker Shrimp Tacos.
Each Tap location is equipped with flat screens for live sports viewing. We feature live music on Fridays and Saturdays and live Trivia throughout the week. Patio space, private event spaces, catering, and mobile orders to go are available at each location.
*The Tap Bloomington will obtain a full liquor license in August 2024.
